Information

The southern parks present a wide range of experiences, from savannah to wetlands, walking safaris to river experiences.
Most people who visit Tanzania for the second time go to the south. This nine-day itinerary for the southern circuit comprises parks and reserves that may be explored by beginning in Dar es Salaam. Saadani National Park is located to the north of Dar, while Mikumi, a small park, is located two hours to the west along the roadway that meanders down to Iringa and Mbeya. Both river excursions on the Rufiji River and walking safaris are excellent in the Selous Game Reserve, which is south of Mikumi. While Ruaha National Park, located just west of Iringa, is the crown jewel of the southern circuit, Udzungwa Mountains National Park is all about forests, waterfalls, and strange endemics.
