You will be picked from the Airport or your Nairobi Hotel and proceed to Masai Mara National Reserve. It holds on as one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras and attendant predators. Buffalo Springs National Reserve. The park is 165km² in size and is situated 350km from Nairobi. It ranges in altitude from 800 to 1230m above sea level. In the middle of the reserve, the Ewaso Ng’iro flows through doum palm groves and thick riverine forests. It provides water, without which the game in this arid region could not survive. The Samburu National Reserve was one of the two areas in which conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness, made famous in the best-selling book and award-winning movie Born Free. The Elephant Watch Camp lies within the park. It is also the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting oryx calves. Drive out to Trout Tree Restaurant in Nanyuki in time for lunch. Leave Nanyuki for Samburu National Reserve where you’ll have game drives in the afternoon. Your overnight stay is at the Sarova Shaba Game Lodge.
